A "Thousand Footer" Laker Ship
This laker, the George A. Stinson (own by American Steamship) is
1,004 feet long, 105 feet wide and can carry up to 59,700 tons of cargo.
It can only use the Upper Great Lakes (Superior, Michigan, Huron and
Erie), for which it was specifically designed. It is too large to use
the Welland Canal and the St. Lawrence Seaway.
