Suzhou

During our stay in Shanghai, we will spend one weekend to visit Suzhou, a very popular tourist resort to the north of Shanghai. Suzhou is well-known for a host of private gardens built in the late imperial periods, 16th-18th century. These gardens best illustrate the architecture of ancient China with their rockery hills, lotus ponds, unique pavilions and zigzagging paths.

Among its best gardens, we will visit The Humble Administrator's Garden, The Lion Grove, Lingering Garden and/or Tiger Hill. Suzhou is also well-known for its handcraft arts, silk paintings and silk clothes. Other artifacts such as jade and bamboo products have proved to be popular bargains for our students as well.
