Zuyan Zhou received B.A. (1982) and M.A. (1984) in English and American literature from Fudan University, China. He came to America in 1989 and obtained a Ph.D. (1996) in Chinese and Comparative Literature from Washington University in St. Louis. He is a Professor in the Department of Comparative Literature and Languages at Hofstra University, teaching Chinese language, literature and culture. His research interests cover Chinese literature of the late imperial period, Taoist philosophy, gender study and modern Chinese cinema.
