Getting to Your Web Folder

The folder where your web pages reside are on the F: drive. To access this drive, double click on "My Computer" (Figure 1).

Figure 1.

You will see displayed several icons that represent the network and local drives on that computer. Double click on the F: drive in "My Computer".

Once you have opened up the F: drive you will see a folder labeled "Public". This is the folder where you will store all your web pages. Your public area is where you will want to put your web pages so anyone can see those pages in their web browser if they know the address (URL).

Double click on the "Public" folder. Inside the "Public" folder there will be a file called "index.htm". Using HTML code, a web page development tool like Dreamweaver, or even Microsoft Word, create your web page and replace the original "index.htm" with your new "index.htm".

To access your site via FTP, ftp to ftp.hofstra.edu. After logging in with your network credentials, you can change to your "Public" folder to access your website.
