Wiping response of lobsters to chemicals found commonly in their food.
All responses are standardized to l-glutamate, the most stimulatory chemical.
Chemicals were presented at equimolar concentrations (0.0005 Molar) in
artificial sea water (ASW). The 50th percentile is shown as vertical line
within the horizontal gray bar. The 25th and 75th percentiles are shown
as boundaries of the bars. 5th and 95th percentiles are represented as
the caps on the lines. The next best stimulus, glycine, is approximately
30% of the response to l-glutamate.Many of these chemicals elicit other
behavioral responses.
