THE GEOGRAPHY OF TRANSPORT SYSTEMS

The Chek Lap Kok Air Terminal, which opened in 1998, is the largest air terminal in the world with a length of 1270 meters and a width of 350 meters. A common design shared by air terminals built in recent decades is their spacious design. This is jointly to insure a smooth circulation of passengers, adequate waiting areas for large aircrafts (e.g. 747s) as well as to convey a calming effect on passengers in spite of the intensiveness of use of these terminal facilities.
