Market Share of US Intermodal Rail, 2006

The market share of American intermodal rail reflects well the network extent of each carrier. The total gross revenue was $US 12 billion in 2006 with about an equal share generated from domestic and international traffic. Jointly, BNSF and UP account for about 65% of the gross income since they service the lucrative long distance intermodal market.
