Composition of Weekly Frequencies on Eastbound Transatlantic Nonstop Routes

The predominant type of aircraft in the transatlantic market is the widebody twin - a twin-aisle aircraft of 8 to 10 seats wide with two engines. Such aircraft are more fuel efficient than three- and four-engine airliners like the MD-11 and the Boeing 747 and their moderate capacity is better suited to the proliferation of "pencil routes".
