Operating Profit in the Global Airline Industry, 1960-2005
Although the airline industry is characterized by boom-and-bust cycles, the long-term rate of profit in the industry is not impressive. For instance, the 10 year profit rate between 1995 and 2005 was only 1.8%, well below inflation figures.
