This is like a very specific online museum, as I collect images that share a common thread, but one that only is obvious if you're told what it is. Basically, this site houses nothing but still frames taken from films and television shows at the 11:06 mark. Nothing more, nothing less. The hope is, as the image bank grows, that it becomes a unique visual presentation that finds some touches of beauty in the randomness represented by the four digits 1106.
I review DVDs for
DVDTalk.com, and I'm quickly coming up on my 600th review. For each one, I do image captures to illustrate the review. So one night, while doing the capturing, it struck me just how beautiful a well-constructed frame can be. Obviously, some stills look better than others, but that's the point in taking one from each film at the 11:06 point. It's utterly random, and creates an odd gallery of a moment in fictional time.
Plus, sometimes you catch people making silly faces.
In case you asked why to find out why 11:06, it's my birthday, November 6th. Yeah, it's a vanity project at heart.
My name is Francis Rizzo III. I work for a large university in the Northeast (if you look hard enough, you can figure it out) and also teach journalism. I live on Long Island with my wife, my daughter and my Schnoodle, Mattingly. I also like movies, art, computers and hockey.
- To see the name of the film, move your mouse pointer over the image. This way, you can challenge yourself to identify the movie.
- There's an icon to the bottom right of the image. That's the menu button. Click it to see the various categories, including alphabetical sets.
- Across from the menu button, on the other side, is the full-screen button. It makes the pictures so big.
- The rest are navigation and should be self-explanatory.
- You can clean your copper very easily and without the use of chemicals if you mix baking soda with enough lemon juice to make a paste. Use the paste as you would any metal cleaner. Buff clean with a soft cloth.
- Enjoy.
