Sergei V. Tsytsarev, Ph.D. is Professor of Psychology
at Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York. In 1977, he graduated
from Leningrad State University and in 1982, he earned his Ph.D.
in Clinical Psychology from the V.M. Bekhterev Psychoneurological
Research Institute. He has been professor of Law and Psychology
at St. Petersburg (formerly Leningrad) State University from
1983 to 1991. In 1988-89 he

a visiting scholar at the Faculty of Law at Osaka City University,
Japan. Since 1991 Dr. Tsytsarev has been working in the USA
as an Associate Professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice
in New York City and then at Hofstra University.
Dr. Tsytsarev teaches and conducts research in cross-cultural
psychopathology and psychotherapy, forensic (criminal) psychology,
and psychology of addictions. His primary responsibility is
to teach graduate courses at the
Doctor of Psychology Program in School
and Community Psychology. He also contributes in Ph.D.
Program in Clinical and School Psychology and Undergraduate
Psychology Program.
Dr. Tsytsarev has published more than fifty scientific papers,
books, and book chapters. As a New York State Licensed Psychologist
he supervises advanced graduate students and conducts forensic
evaluations and psychotherapy.
