Aaron
Noland, professor emeritus of history
at The City College, CUNY, passed
away in 2003. He was a longtime member
of the original Friends of George
Sand literary society founded at Hofstra
University in 1976. He presented scholarly
papers at many George Sand conferences.
His most recent participation was
at the Oscar Wilde Centenary Conference
held at Hofstra University in April
2000. His paper was titled, "Oscar
Wilde and Victorian Socialism." Professor
Noland would introduce himself as
"I'm a Proudhon man." He is survived
by a daughter. He is dearly remembered.
