My lab is interested in vertebrate animal design using an integrative approach. I use several analytical tools to understand how animals (particularly fish) interact with their environment (primarily feeding and ventilation). Techniques that we are using to understand the relationship between form and function in vertebrates include, motion analysis (high-speed video and sonomicrometry), electromyography to study muscle activity, and particle image velocimetry to look at fluid flows.
