An Introduction to the Model Standards of Practice for Family and Divorce Mediation, 38 Fam. L. Q. 1 (2001) and the Model Standards of Practice for Family and Divorce Mediation, 39 FAMILY Ct. Rev. 121 (2001) and 39 Fam. L. Q. 27 (2001). The Model Standards redefine the nature of family and divorce mediation practice and result from a Symposium on Standards of Practice convened by the American Bar Association Family Law Section, the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, the ABA’s Commission on Domestic Violence and other major family law and family mediation groups. The Symposium developed the Model Standards over a five year period. They were approved by the American Bar Association in February, 2001.

Editor:

Family Court Review, an interdisciplinary academic journal on family law and courts sponsored by the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts and Hofstra University School of Law, published quarterly by Sage Publications. I serve as Editor-in-Chief of FCR. The mission of FCR is to promote interdisciplinary dialogue on family law disputes and their constructive resolution. Hofstra Law School co-sponsors FCR. Students on the FCR Editorial Staff receive academic credit for research and writing projects and editorial work. I supervise the student research and editorial staff. I also organize FCR=s interdisciplinary, international Editorial Board which reviews submitted articles for suitability for publication.

Children and Law column of the New York Law Journal

I founded the Children and Law column of the New York Law Journal, the newspaper for the New York legal community to heighten its awareness of children=s issues. The column has appeared bi-monthly since 1996. Articles in the column cover child abuse, domestic violence, child custody, mediation, and any other matter relating to children.
