About Me:

I completed my Ph.D. in English Literature in 2005 at the University of Texas at Austin, where I specialized in early modern literature and culture with a secondary emphasis in women, gender, and literature. Prior to that, I earned a Masters degree in English from The Ohio State University in 1998 and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1996. As an ungraduate at OWU, I played varsity Volleyball and Basketball and was a member of Sigma Tau Delta, the English Honor Society.

At Hofstra, I teach courses in Shakespeare (English 115 and 116), Elizabethan and Jacobean Drama (English 112) as well as other courses in writing and early British literature. In all of my courses, I am an advocate for the critical and innovative use of technology and a proponent of feminist pedagogy.

My current research focuses on military issues in early modern England, particularly as they manifest in English drama by Shakespeare and his contemporaries. For more information about my teaching and research, click on the links to the right. I have published articles on Margaret Cavendish, Shakespeare, and John Fletcher, and I am working on a book manuscript about military obligation in the 16th and 17th century drama.

When I am not working, I watch tv (especially college basketball), read about politics, listen to music, hang out with Friday, see movies, (and eat, while doing any or all of the above).
