- Elements are composed of atoms, tiny indestructible units of mater.
- Atoms of the same element are identical.
- Atoms of different elements differ in mass and chemical properties.
- Compounds are composed of two or more atoms of different elements joined to form a molecule.
- In chemical reactions atoms are separated, rearranged or recombined but no atoms are destroyed or changed.
