Loaded Die

This applet requires a Java-capable browser (such as Netscape 3.0 or some versions of MS Explorer 3.0). It simulates the experiment of casting a weighted dice (6 is three times as likely to come up as any other number) and computes the experimental probability that the outcome is an even number.

To cast the die, just press the corresponding button.

Pressing the "Reset" button starts the experiment over again.

The theoretical probability that the outcome is even is 0.625. The experimental probability should approach this number as the sample size gets large. You can now verify this experimentally.

(If nothing appears below, your browser is probably not Java-capable. Sometimes, on certain platforms, parts of the picture can disappear for some reason -- to refresh, press "reload" on your browser, or just fiddle with the window size.)

When you are done, you can just close this window to return to the tutorial.
