Outline for Research Paper

Article MUST come from the journal Psychological Reports and be approved.

All of the following seven areas must be covered for full credit:

1. Summary of Paper

(Include: Theory being tested, Hypotheses, Procedure used, Results Found, Conclusions)

2. Identify Independent and Dependent Variables

3. Describe Design Using Campbell & Stanley Notation

4. Critique Design Used, Based On:

Internal Validity

History

Maturation

Testing

Instrumentation

Statistical Regression

Selection

Mortality

Interactions with Selection

Only report on the following if they are obvious problems with the study:

Diffusion or Imitation of Treatments

Compensatory Equalization of Treatments

Compensatory Rivalry by Respondents

Receiving Less Desirable Treatments

Resentful Demoralization of Respondents

Receiving Less Desirable Treatments

External Validity

Interaction of Selection and Treatment

Interaction of Setting and Treatment

Interaction of History and Treatment

5. Give general overview of the quality of the study. Were there any major problems with the study?

6. Were there any ethical considerations that were not addressed by the researcher(s)?

7. Make recommendations for improving the study.
