My research involves first language
acquisition, syntactic and pragmatic
analysis of Japanese particles (especially viewing/ -ga/ and /-wa/ as a
pragmatic unit), and Japanese language pedagogy. Current interests center
on formulating
a cohesive account of particle omissions,
the classical and modern Japanese
copula verb and their subcategorizations and, finally, study of the
distribution of /-ga/ and /-wa/ in interrogative sentences.
