Kent D. Harber got his BA in psychology at Pitzer College in Claremont CA in 1979, and then spent several years in the "real world" as a reporter, a roofer, a policy researcher, and as a consultant to the State of California. He received his Ph.D. from Stanford University in 1996. His doctoral research on The Positive Feedback Bias was awarded the Best Dissertation Award from the Society for Psychological Study of Social Issues. Harber completed post-doctoral training in Health Psychology at Washington University in St. Louis in 1997, and then was employed for two years as a Research Scientist at American Institutes for Research (AIR) in Palo Alto, CA. He is currently Associate Professor in the psychology department at Rutgers/Newark. His research topics include psychosocial resources and perception, the role of emotion in information transfer, and interracial feedback.
