Jonathan
D. Becker, J.D., Ph.D.
After graduating cum
laude from Duke University with a B.A. in Public Policy Studies in
1994, Jonathan Becker received a law degree and a masters
degree in curriculum and instruction from Boston College Law School and the Boston College Graduate School of
Education in 1997. Additionally,
Jonathan recently earned a Ph.D. in the Politics and Education program in the
Department of Human Development at Teachers College, Columbia University.
Prior to being appointed Assistant Professor in the Department of
Foundations, Leadership and Policy Studies in the School of Education and
Allied Human Services at Hofstra University, Jonathan served as Research
Director at Interactive, Inc., an educational research and consulting company based
in Huntington, New York. In his capacity
at Interactive, Inc., Jonathan has directed and been involved in a number of
research projects focused on the achievement and equity effects of educational
technology. Now as an assistant
professor at Hofstra
University, Jonathan is teaching courses in the
politics of education, the social and legal contexts
of education, and educational research methods.
His research agenda includes continued study of digital equity in
education, educational equity as a multilevel organizational phenomenon, and
the intersection between educational research and educational policy and
practice.
