Dr. Papaioannou earned his B.A. in
economics with honors from the Athens School of Economics and Business
Sciences, his M.B.A. from His research interests include topics in
corporate finance, investment banking and international finance. His teaching
concentrates on corporate finance and investment banking. He has conducted research on stock
listings, corporate financial policy, mergers and acquisitions, the Greek
stock market and security offerings. His papers have appeared in Financial
Management, The Financial Review, the Journal of Financial
Research, Managerial and Decision Economics, and other refereed
journals in the Dr. Papaioannou was the co-director of two
international conferences on global finance issues organized at He is currently the director of the Merrill
Lynch Center for the Study of International Financial Services and Markets at
the Zarb School of Business. He serves on the board of directors of the
Nassau Educators Federal Credit Union. Dr. Papaioannou is a member of the American
