• Utah is now the proud home of two Jewish Film Festivals:
• SLC JCC Film Festival May 2004. The First Ganzeh Galus Guide Jewish Film Festival was held April 10-12, 1999, with 10 Jewish films on the University of Utah Campus. From 2001 -2003, it was known as jUdance - Utah Jewish Film Festival. Since 2004, it has been operated by the SLC JCC in connection with Brewvies. Do you want to help with or organize the next one?
• SchmoozeDance: During the Sundance Film Festival each January in Park City and SLC.
• Borrow or rent videos for home use.
  • Both the University Marriot Library (multimedia section) and the Salt Lake JCC are creating Jewish video tape collections. In addition, Marriott Library holds several Israeli videos in its Hebrew language collection, available for viewing by special arrangement only (the language collection does not appear in the main catalogue; inquire at the multimedia desk).
  • Home Film Festival (800-258-3456) carries a wide selection of art and foreign films not available at local rental stores.
• Organize a film showing or a whole festival.
  • Organize the next jUdance: Utah Jewish Film Festival or a classics film festival.
  • The Israeli Cinema Project is creating a monthly program of one brand-new Israeli film together with (video-taped) commentary and discussion, to use as the base of a local program. Organize the SLC project, together with IMPACT and the JCC. Contact Hillel or Prof. Lenowitz (Middle East Studies).
  • The University Student Dep't (USD) of the World Zionist Organization will help set up an Israel Movie Night. Call 1-800-27 ISRAEL.
  • Order films and videos from the National Center for Jewish Film or Ergo Media Inc..
  • If your taste runs a bit more avante garde, get a catalogue from Red Diaper Productions (new videotapes and films by Israeli and Palestinian directors) or Women Make Movies (ask for their catalogue of films and videos about Jewish women).
  • Most of the films in the First Ganzeh Galus Guide Jewish Film Festival came from the National Center for Jewish Film; the remaining ones were mainly suggestions of the very helpful folks at the San Francisco Jewish Film Festival.
  • The Israeli Film Database is developing a website with a complete listing of Israeli films.
• Attend a film festival.
  • The jUdance Utah Jewish Film Festival is held in the Spring, with 10 Jewish films on the University of Utah Campus. Do you want to help with or organize the next one?
