Rosh HaShana -- the Jewish New Year commemorating the creation of the world -- is from the evening of Wed., Sept 12, 2007 to sundown Fri., Sept 14, 2007
Yom Kippur -- the Day of Atonement and the most solemn fast day of the Jewish year -- is from Erev Shabbat, the evening of Friday, Sept 21, 2007 to sundown Motzei Shabbat, Sat., Sept 22, 2007.
Sukkot (Succos, Succoth, Feast of Tabernacles, Feast of Booths) -- the fall harvest and pilgrimage festival, commemorating forty years in the desert -- is from the evening of Wednedsay., Sept 26, 2007 to sundown on Thurs, October 4, 2007
Simhat Torah -- the Rejoicing of the Torah, commemorating the giving of the Torah (law) at Mt. Sinai -- follows Succoth on the evening of October 5, 2007 and continues until sundown the next day.

    • Shalom Spiegel, The Akedah (the Sacrifice of Isaac). Simply the best Judaica book I've ever read, describing historical interpretations of the disturbing story we read during Rosh HaShana services.
    • JTS (one of the Conservative movement's Rabbinical Seminaries) distance learning site on Rosh HaShana, and the other holidays, including history, study guides, spiritual resources, gifts, greeting cards, games, etc.
    • Rabbis For Human Rights-North America has put together a High Holiday Resource Packet, including liturgical texts (new prayers and commentary on traditional ones), contemporary voices on the current conflicts, and study texts on the creation of humans in the image of God, the place of suffering and tears, and the commandment of tochekha (moral criticism).
