Dr. Merguerian's Astrogeology 03 Home Page

Last Update 25 January 2007

Dear Astrogeology 03 Students - Course materials can be downloaded using Blackboard and also some of the links below.  One of the ways we try to help students relieve the stress of taking an exam is to allow them to work on sample questions, many of which you will see on the actual exam.  Face it, this is a science and we're not going to ask your opinion of the Oort Cloud - we're going to ask you what it is!  The following links allow you to download sample question files in .html format so that you can download the files and prepare for exams in our Geology 03 course. You might notice that the sly Professor has not given you the answers!  No, no .... instead I expect you to go to the bookstore, buy the textbook, and read it - then answer the questions (a sneaky ploy to get you to appreciate scholarship and to learn and remember content - remember, We Teach Success").

The first exam covers the Solar System, Geological Time, the Earth, Plate Tectonics, Minerals and Rocks, Igneous Processes, Asteroids, Meteorites, and Cratering Processes (Consult Chapters 1, 2, 3, 4, and 13 and use the index and glossary at the back of the textbook to focus your study for questions).  The second exam will cover the details of the Terrestrial Planets including the Earth's Moon (Consult Chapters 5, 6, 7, and 8).  The third exam, given during finals week, will cover the Outer Planets (Consult Chapters 9, 10, and 11).  Click on the links above for sample exam questions for the exam topics.  Study hard, trying to answer all questions and come see your lecture or lab professor if there's a handful you can not answer.  The creation of study groups is strongly encouraged and remember we have Geology majors available as tutors throughout the day in Gittleson 135 (check the schedule).  If all else fails - cash contributions (or Mastercard) are gratefully accepted.  Remember, we teach success and this applies to the instructional staff as well as students.

Planned Exam Dates:

Exam 1 is on 08 March 2007

Exam 2 is on 17 April 2007

Final Exam is during Finals Week (Check University Schedule)
