The Psychology of Men

In large part due to the feminist movement, men during this postmodern era have been encouraged to alter stereotypic patterns of masculine behavior.

This course will:

  1. Examine the extent to which the behavior of boys and men is predetermined (biological)
  2. Review the research on how the early experiences of boys effect their adult values and behavior with regard to gender.
  3. Examine the role of ethnicity, race and socio-economic status on the development of gender role in boys and men
  4. Identify and discuss contemporary changes in masculine behavior and the new options available to men in relationships, parenting and career choice

Requirements

  • Midterm-40% of Grade
  • Final Exam-40% of grade
  • Class participation-20% of grade
